(n.) 1. The chief usher, butler, or caretaker of an executive mansion (such as the PM's Lodge in Canberra, 10 Downing Street in London, Rideau Hall in Ottawa, the Casa Rosada in Argentina, or the White House in the US); 2. Someone who manages day-to-day matters for an organization during the tenures of various chiefs; 3. The chief of staff of those in charge of maintaining a building, a park, a school, etc.; 4. The head housekeeper, janitor, or maintenance director.
